On the road to the first 3-D Indie Film Expo we've met a lot of exciting new people, gone a lot of interesting places, keep having wonderful new adventures. As an ever growing group of like minded individuals, we find ourselves perpetually discovering where our quest for the 3rd dimension will take us - as written by the ebb and flow of the 3-D Revolution. Join our pan-dimensional adventures, or experience them virtually here - but always: 2 EYES NECESSARY!!
The consideration screening was a complete success. Along with many true blue members of the SCSC, we were joined by some new faces. Folks from the LA Weekly staff, MediArt Productions, TDVision, and some fresh indie artists were on the scene. The amazng thing about 3-D is it's ability to reduce any grown person to a 4 year old at a county fair! The beauty and majesty of everyday occourances is emphasized by our ability to be directed thru the perspactive frame of the artist beholding the beauty. We can't wait to screen these gems of reality at the PDRFF 3-D Experience! If you'd like to buy tickets to the 3-D Indie Film Expo - Click Here!! The members of the Stereo Club of Southern California has banded together to create an action based production group focused on stereoscopic production. Every 2 weeks, they get together to plan the next steps towards accomplishing a member's 3-D dream in reality. Additionally the meetings are hosted by a featured 3-D specialty company or facility, widening the collaborative pool for the Indie 3-D Revolution. Tonight the task force meeting will be held at Stereoscope, a full-service 3-D production studio in Burbank! We got a full tour of the facility including the cyclorama stereoscopic ready stage, the screening room, and the gadgets room. How cool!! Stereoscope
This afternoon, Ray Zone, Famed 3-D historian and Filmmaker will be teaming with MediArt Cinematographer Warren Kommers to test out the new RED camera coupled with a 3-D rig! Special bit is it's only 1 CAMERA, and 2 LENSES!!
Tonight we went to the monthly meeting of the Stereo Club of Southern California, at the Methodist church on Wilshire Blvd. Scheduled for tonights meeting was a slide competition for new stereoscopic photographic works. As addicted as we are to all things multi-dimensional, We couldnt stay. We had only a few more hours before the PRDFF starts, and plenty still to do! However, we wanted to make sure the SCSC were personally invited to the 3-D Indie Film Expo. We took a few of our newly printed Expo posters - designed by 3-D artist Ryan Colditz, and a few of the anaglyph glasses Sara had picked up this afternoon, generously donated to the 3DIFE by Rainbow Symphony, and stopped by the meeting on the way out of town. We showed off the posters - they were a huge hit!! Everyone was having fun talking about the content they knew and didn't, slated for the screening portion of the Expo, and oggling the anaglyph graphics. We met Perry Hoberman, a Professor at the Interactive Media Lab - USC and one of his Grad students, and talked about live-action/animation stereoscopic film. Finally when everyone had arrived, John Hart introduced us and we made our announcement, and hit the road! Good luck to all the stereo artists with pieces in the competition! We'll see you in Paso Robles!! Stereo Club of Southern California, PRDFF Expo posters Ryan Colditz Rainbow Symphony Perry Hoberman Interactive Media Lab - USC
